About Us

Hi, we're Marcus and Lisa,

We've arrived here in different ways, but our interests increasingly meet in the same place.

Direct experience.

What's actually here, before we explain it, interpret it or try to change it?

One question has become central for both of us: how can we realise our true nature, and then appear to lose it again?

We can see very clearly that there is no separate self.

And still feel like one.

We can know our true nature, and still feel the body tighten around a 'me'.

We can rest in a peace that seems unshakeable, and some weeks later find old fears, emotions and deeply conditioned responses moving as strongly as ever.

It's easy to conclude that something has been lost. What we've found is that recognising our essential nature doesn't necessarily mean that the familiar patterns held in thought, feeling and the body disappear. Patterns held in feeling and in the body are still acting as though the old story were true.

What we've found is that recognising our essential nature doesn't necessarily mean that the familiar patterns held in thought, feeling and the body disappear.

This is where our different ways of exploring naturally come together.

Marcus tends towards enquiry: looking closely at what we assume to be true, listening to what is actually being experienced, and exploring the familiar sense of being someone at the centre of it all.

Lisa's attention naturally includes the body and the felt sense: what is being experienced beneath the words, what hasn't necessarily moved simply because something has been understood, and what happens when it's met directly rather than explained away.

"Unless we explore the feeling and location of 'me', the sense of a separate self, with its subtle tensions or contractions of wanting, grasping, resisting and avoiding, the understanding of our essential nature stays conceptual."

What we share is a curiosity about what happens when we stop trying to arrive at the right answer and turn towards what is already here.

Whether you sit with Marcus, Lisa or both of us, we don't begin with a method or a conclusion about what you need.

We begin with you.

With what's happening now.

And we look together.
